Hurray for PR freebies

After last night’s little rant about CWDs, I managed to completely forgot what I was actually going to post about. And what a cracking little post it was going to be. Or should I say, it was going to be ’sweet’ because yesterday we had a virtual treasure chest of classic sweets arrive at MacFormat HQ for all the team to share. It was courtesy of Konica Minolta who had put in a massive order with a little company called Just A Quarter Of.co.uk to deliver to us (along with a couple of other magazines) a treasure chest full of classic sweets. There was everything you would expect from a classic tuck shop or 10p mix-up. There were cola cubes and flying saucers; sherbert fountains and popping candy, gobstoppers and pink shrimps; fried eggs and love hearts; black jacks and even palmer violets. Not to mention assorted other e-number riddled bags of things which I don’t even remember or recognize.

Needless to say, deadline was soon forgotten and we tucked into these sugar-loaded treats with more gusto than a 9 year old on pocket money day and there looks like there won’t be much left for the rest of the team when they return from their holidays on Monday. However it served us all right, as we all were hit with a does of the ’sugar hangover’ by 4.00 and I found myself with a strange case for the munchies for the rest of the day. Clearly this shows just how much my intolerance for sweet has grown now that I am nearly 30 and live on brown bread and actually have things called ‘vegetables’ in my diet. but how I miss those heady of being able to neck an entire sherbert fountain and then ride my bike around the park for 20 minutes to get rid of the excess energy!
